You can consider this: http://CreativeCommons.org , but as they say themselves, they are not a law firm and all you can do is to expect the conscience of potential thieves.

yeah some phones others will react ok but you can cancel them out with <noscript></noscript>
or something on the lines of:

Iv Had Loads Of my images stolen over years but then again iv probably used other peoples aswell .......
Just like you lot ..... you have probably used other peoples images without asking the owner ..... so fairs fair and just give it up and share...
and as for taking them to court over an image is really crap unless your an artist and your image is worth thousands of pounds lol

As for copyrights, only remains respect to someone else's work.

Even CC is just a bunch of nonsense, which only shows that someone is the author of a work and that is the end. Nothing specifically related to law.

Personally, I use that license only because my site is at Wen server, whose users and ther work for some reason are not being respected, and some idiots just copy the source and css, and thus to try to copy to minimal, if possible.

i make a lot of my own smileys and always getting site owners coming into site just to pinch smileys ....... watermarking them would look really rubbish lol
even found 1 site had hotlinked into loads of smileys..... had fun with that site changed all the smileys to my site name via .htaccess .... talk about completely spam there site lol ...teach them to hotlink in.
i also put site name in frame properties or email address so can prove there mine....
im guessing could let animation run round a few times and then end with site name lol
