    Keywords

    Here are some tips that helped me when using keywords:

    Firstly keywords are not just 1 worders, they are phrases. try to use phrases as keywords as well as 1 worders. When a user searches google or yahoo, most of the time they would type in a phrase to search instead of a single word. Also keywords should define your product or idea.

    Now research your 1 worder or phrase by searching google or yahoo with your chosen keywords. Pretend your 1 worder is the word "free". search it with google, and you will see that google returns +- 3,570,000,000 results.

    This means that this word is too general and has too much competition and just wouldnt be a good keyword to use. However, you can still use the word free in your content.

    If "free" isn't a keyword, then what is? Keywords are basicaly two to five word phrases you expect people to search for to find your website. My best advice for getting your keywords phrases: If you were looking for your product, what would you type?

    Your Keyword length is also important as a longer search phrase is associated with better targeting. Shorter keyword searchers are shoppers and longer keyword searchers are buyers. Most good keyword phrases are 2 to 5 words long.

    Research keyword tags on competitors websites and also a note of caution is that you can not optimize a page for 20 different keywords. As you add more keywords to the mix, you lessen the keyword density and change the focus of the page. The page can start to sound robot created if you are optimized for too many terms.

    You usually do not want to use misspelled keywords or phrases in your body or page title as they will look unprofessional. It can however help you to add misspelled keywords to the meta keywords tag.

    Most search engines are not case sensitive so "Free" is the same thing as "free". Also hyphenated words are treated as a space eg. e-mail.

    There are a few apps on the web which do a good job of helping you find which keywords get searched for and how frequently they are search for.

    I will do some more research and post some of the apps here.

        If you are doing search engine optimization for the first time, you can start with simple strategies like article submissions, blogging, forum / community participation. Make sure, that the content you are submitting is authoritative and provides with value to the people. If people start monitoring your posts, they will surely want to come to your website looking for more information. This will boost the incoming traffic to the website.

          Meta keyword tag!
          Be careful using to many keywords in your meta tag, Some search engines will lower your rating and in the worst case scenario they will ban you from there search engine results if your site looks suspicious eg: spammy.

            Actually it is very hard to optimize a website for SEO today because , The competitors where increased and Google and all other search engines where changing their SEO algorithm day by day . By doing only the basic SEO steps we can't get enough traffic to our website .

                I still use meta tags. i use the following:
                Content type:
                Code:
                <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
                language type: apparently helps google categorize.
                Code:
                <meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="en-GB" />
                Description: should apparently be a short description of your page. (i think this text should also be on your page) google uses this to as a description in the search query.
                Code:
                <meta name="Description" content="SynergyX is an innovative company that offers the best and latest technology in most fields of the IT industry. We specialise in corporate websites, online web applications, hosting, online business solutions, design, search engine optimization, network solutions, website design and corporate imaging." />
                Keywords: im not sure if this is true but most search engines only look at 20 keywords, so max of 20 keywords. The first 10 should be top priority.
                Code:
                <meta name="Keywords" content="synergyx,web hosting,web design,websites,online web applications,adsl,graphic design,domains,ecommerce,shopping cart,cms,content management system,online business solutions,seo,search engine optimization,hardware,network solutions,website design,corporate imaging,web developers" />
                robots: both these tags are used to tell crawlers what to do. this lets them index all pages
                Code:
                <meta name="ROBOTS" content="INDEX, FOLLOW" />
                <meta name="robots" content="ALL" />
                copyright, author, designer: general info about yourself
                Code:
                <meta name="copyright" content="synergyx.co.za" />
                <meta name="author" content="SynergyX" />
                <meta name="designer" content="Shaughn - SynergyX" />
                I have created new site almost 6 or 7 month before and I didn't use meta tag in my site, So I want to know does my site rank on google SERP or not?

                My site: https://mini-militia.com

                and I also would like to know is there something I need to add or change in my site? thanks.
