Has anyone been emailed by a copyright infringement notice?

Why in all the wapsites they chose mine? while they are much bigger sites down there.

Has anyone experienced the same problem?

If these won't stop Imma report all wapsites I know, so that I'm not the only one who'd be bugged.

But you will have to valid the email by replying to them and ask them to reply back with the some email...

If no reply back in 1 week you will notice you have a fake email being sent...

I once suspended regarding this matter when I was in shared hosting, but I got warned by godaddy again now that I'm in dedicated server they can't just suspend my site, because I'm hosting my site in my server, they just provide the server.

No they can delete you cuz your hosting warez files...

No matter what server you try copyrighted infringement will always be on your ass all the way...

Buy a offshore hosting services where files are allowed to be hosted....

dont be stupid. just take the material off your site, just because your host is in some other country doesnt mean your safe. They can still,

1. knock on your door instead, they already have evidence
2. send a takedown notice to your new host (most hosts will just get rid of you at this point as you arent worth the hassle)
3. if they have evidence to prove beyond reasonable doubt that you have more copyrighted material on the server they can gain permission through the right channels to physically takedown the server by force


Unfortunately your hosting the files yourself, which puts you in whole different ballpark to a torrent site. ALWAYS comply with takedown notices, you will never win.

However a few things to consider,

1. email can be sent to you from anywhere by anyone, just cause it has an ea domain doesnt mean its real.
2. its quite rare that the copyright holding company will be the ones to contact you. Its usually a specialist company or at very least a law firm contracted by ea to issue notices on there behalf
3. Your a wapsite, and probably a relatively small one. How would ea find you or be bothered with you, type in an ea game name and your wapsite is gonna be very near the bottom of a million pages of results

Ultimately its your decision, but ive recieved over 20 takedown notices and a friend of mine recieves atleast 3 per week and has been doing so for over 3 years and his site is still up and running, as long as you do as your asked they will 99.9% of the time, leave you alone after that.

you have to remove all the content they ask you from your site, and dont look to other wapsites im sure they will have receive the same email like you, or they are smarter than you.

i had some issues similar to this in the past,
even here in the forums, someone has posted crazyfrog download links so the company who owns the copyrights asked me to remove their content,
they usually give you 24 hours time to remove it.

@djlee well at first I was ignoring the emails but they emailed it to the godaddy piracy, so they would be force to temporary suspend my site until I send them a counter, so I had no choice but to remove the stuffs they wanted me to delete.

So I guess, I can't really avoid things like this then.

You are right gumslone, delete that content from your server, but i have a question gumslone, there is a lot of big sites they are hosting gameloft and ea content, but still they alive, what is the reason? And we know the biggest site songs.** they are hosting mp3.

if one want to do things the legal way, how would one go about? I searched google, but don't get what I'm looking for, and for the same thing I don't have any files for download on my server,

the only legal way is to pay royalties to the copyright holder. This means contacting people like sony bmg and asking them for the application e.c.t. for releasing their content. Which in turn would require you to charge users for the content as you would need to fund it. Which then would mean users would go elsewhere and get it for free. Even if you did wanna pay royalties, the chance of being granted the permission is very unlikely.

its either:

a) dont do it
b) do it illegally
c) only distribute none copyrighted content

but as we've said before, your best bet is to do it and always comply with takedown notices. What i have done in the past to stay in good faith with the companies is when recieving a takedown notice take the content offline but also take down 2 or 3 other files they own and tell them that you have done a quick search for any of their content you could find and removed it as you were unaware of it being there (you would have to ofcourse supply a uploader for users which you could just make a dummy one that doesnt actually work this will give you the leverage to say you didnt know it was there) and ofcourse a disclaimer on tehe site saying you do not actively moderate its content regularly will also count towards being "let off"

It is however all just ignorance and trying to fool them. Bare in mind the law firms are paid to protect certain works, not all. So they are mainly concerned about the works they tell you about, as long as they get paid they couldnt care less what other content you have on your site, they will just come to you again with the promise of a big pay check for themselves if they get brought in to protect something else which you happen to have on your site
