We am running an small ad network which having nearly 3Million impressions per day.
Vps cant take load, tried cloud servers but now it also cant handle load,
Ram usage not much, but cpu load being more than 150-250 in cpanel
so site being very slow,
we need to know what type of servers we should use and with what configuration , processors etc.

Gumslone u are also running your ad network with have huge traffic , so hope you will give us a solution.

but sometimes a script optimization helps more than a new hardware

Could you please give some tips about optimization as you said.
I am only using 4-5 sql quary on the ad serving page but it seems when requests coming to that page using top command i can see there are multiple processes(ex. 100) running of that page . So server load being high.
How can i close the php page process running in background ?

usually mysql causes high server load, try to optimize its queries with caching etc.
