Just a simple question

Ok. So I have started to learn html and some beginner CSS. My question is. Is there a better tutorial that will go into more detail about the programming languages? Currently I am using the tutorials from w3schools.
I know this is a dumb question but I like to have things detailed. Not looking for something that tells me exactly what to do with each piece of code but explains possibilities of what could be done with it.
