What plan have they promised, ask them, how many I/O are allowed perhour, per minute, per second. How much is your site clocking to right now? What is your bandwidth consumption per day , per week, per month?
Next ... What is your acceptable budget, what is your prime requirement - i.e. is your site download based, chat based, forum based, article based ? What media type is most downloaded from your site?

a ssd vps might solved your problem try to order at RAMNODE very fast i/o, ave of 1gb/s disk speed, and its only starts at 2usd/m

i m using domainindia.org shared unlimited hosting plan..
they disable my account bcoz my sites use more than 20 % Ram ... i have two sites one is mp3 serch engine which not host any mp3 file .. and a static professional site both only use less than 2 gb of data. and monthly use of bandwidth is around 60gb and will increase in future
