    What is INCAPSULA cdn solution.

    Incapsula Service Overview

Incapsula offers state-of-the-art security and performance to websites of all sizes. Through a simple DNS change, your website's traffic is seamlessly routed through Incapsula’s globally-distributed network of high-powered servers. Incoming traffic is intelligently profiled in real-time, blocking even the latest web threats: from sophisticated SQL injection attacks to scrapers, malicious bots, intruding comment spammers and thwarting multi-Gigabit DDoS attacks. Meanwhile, outgoing traffic is accelerated and optimized with Incapsula's global CDN, for faster load times, keeping welcome visitors speeding through.
Incapsula can be used by anyone with a website and their own domain
Regardless of website platform. It takes less than five minutes to add your website to Incapsula by making a simple DNS switch. There is no hardware or software to install or maintain and you can keep your current hosting provider. Incapsula can be turned off any time as easily as you turned it on.

    CDN & Website Optimizer
Keeping your site running at top speed is mission-critical. Good performance ensures happy users and returning business. Incapsula's unique technology optimizes any site's loading and navigation processes, without compromising site's look or functionality.

Incapsula increases your website speed by both getting its content closer visitors (via the Incapsula CDN - Content Delivery Network) and by ensuring that every page renders as fast and efficiently as possible regardless of visitors device or location.

Incapsula combines industry best practices, such as caching, compression and connection pooling with innovative techniques such as dynamic content caching and media optimization to take your web site’s performance to the next level.
    The Facts
Incapsula reduces page load time: fast website = happy users = better conversions.
Incapsula reduces server load: instead of adding more servers and buying more load balancers, Incapsula can dramatically reduce the number of hits to your site.
Incapsula reduces bandwidth consumption: caching your website’s content and serving it instead of you.

    The Capabilities
    CDN and Load Balancer

Incapsula’s Content Delivery Network (CDN) is a global network of super-fast servers that front end your web site. Content from your web site is cached and optimized on the CDN servers and pages are returned to visitors from the closest possible data center to their location, while eliminating bottlenecks at central servers.Incapsula’s CDN is built to support a multitude of deployment scenarios from a single server with a single IP to multiple servers and multiple IPs with high availability and fail over support. If your web site uses web servers and needs load balancing capabilities, Incapsula’s CDN can be used as a load balancer distributing traffic between backend servers and IPs. Incapsula can also work with existing load balancing solutions either on premise or cloud solutions like Amazon ELB.

    Content Caching
Once, you had to spend a lot of time or pay a webmaster to configure your caching policy. Now, with Incapsula’s dynamic caching algorithms, we do the work for you. Incapsula will automatically detect cacheable content by analyzing real traffic patterns and web site content and make sure that your pages load as fast as possible while delivering always-fresh content to visitors.

    Static Content Caching
Incapsula caches your static content, such as HTML files, images or Javascript resources, so that they can be served directly from Incapsula’s data centers on demand.

Dynamic Content Caching (Available for paid plans only)
Incapsula can also identify dynamically-generated content, which in reality does not change that often and can be cached while it remains valid and unchanged. This is performed by analyzing real traffic trends, web site content and usage patterns, and determining what content can be cached and reused while making sure visitors always get fresh and accurate content.

    Client Side Caching
Incapsula also optimizes visitor browser caching by making sure that as much content as possible is cached on visitor browsers and mobile devices. This ensures instant loading of resources and the best possible user experience. Incapsula achieves this by enriching browser caching instructions while setting the right refresh policy, so content always stays fresh.

    Full control
With Incapsula you have full control over the caching policy and can manage it directly from your Incapsula account. The following caching modes are available:

None: Incapsula will not cache any of your web site’s resources

Standard: Incapsula will use standard caching techniques to identify and cache resources. Only resources that your web server explicitly declares as static are cached. Learn More

Advanced: Incapsula will use proprietary algorithms to optimize and enhance the standard caching techniques so that more content is cached on our proxies. Learn More
In Web 2.0 applications, advanced caching is expected to have superior performance. You can always see how caching has improved your website by logging in to the Incapsula console and browsing to the website dashboard.
    Content and Transport Optimization
    Minification
Minification is the process of removing all unnecessary characters from source code, without changing its functionality. These unnecessary characters usually include white spaces, new line characters and comments, often used to add readability to the code but not required for its execution. Incapsula removes these characters, minimizing web page size and weight, and reducing load time.

    Session Optimization
In web site acceleration, every millisecond matters. If you have a busy web site you have tens of sessions opened and closed every minute creating load on the server and adding latency. Incapsula’s session optimization dramatically reduces the number of sessions opened with your web server by reusing open sessions. This both reduces the server load especially for SSL sites and eliminates unnecessary latency by using an already opensession.

    Compression
An average website page is between 100KB to 500KB, depending on its content, structure, functionality and the resources it contains. Common web servers and browsers support content compression but configuring server resource compression requires complicated settings and technical expertise, and consumes valuable web server processing power. Incapsula will compress this content for you using GZIP – saving you headache, time, and scarce resources.

Still I would prefer for Cloudflare over Incapsula. But Incapsula could be an alternative of Cloudflare though you couldn't bet much for incapsula over cloudflare.
