Maybe you heard something about .PSD files. All companies have their designer which design the Photoshop document, then programmers convert it to html.

        Its quite simple.
You create the whole layout with photoshop, then slice out the portions you can't recreate in html and then make them into images like the logo etc.
You can then use dreamweaver to do the rest.

So basically, you want to get the appearance in photoshop. Kinda like drawing it.

How to cut? This is a simple task, does not need a tutorial. Just select your part, image -> crop. Then file -> save for devices. And save it using your wanted dimensions.

The slice method is more efficient than the crop method.

Thats on your opinion. Slice and crop, being different methods have different aim. For our need, to CROP a logo from a .psd we use CROP.

Cropping might be easier, but its for a purpose though it can achieve the same goal.
I photoshopped for years before startingnwe design so I'm not ignorant.

Believe me, there's a difference in the output file.

@ Frostymarvel: I didn't say you are ignorant and there is no need to be offended. I like that you try to help, but I don't like how you try to overwrite the others. I work in big webdesign company and my photoshop-crops are worldwide spread. You may use anything, but croping is smartest way. If you want maximum quality, then we export only that layer (if it is possible)

I don't see any ovewriting here, just a healthy intellectual argument over how to achieve a common goal.

I don't try to assert my opinions unless I think the other party is in error.

                        I'm not offended. :D

You can cut the part you want by using the Crop Tool (Shortcut Key C).
