easy just upload yr icon u made anywhere resize to height 35 width 35 upload yr jpg,gif,png to yr public html folder and rename the extension to .ico u can use anything even animated smilies .google search free fav.ico images

At the iconarchive.com every graphics have and .ico format so maybe can find something appropriate.

u can make even using ms paint....make the image in 35x35 size.then save it as favicon.ico.then just upload it to ur public_html..you are done.but some free hosts do not supportr favicon

I think every host supports favicon. The only difference is in the document, if HTML4.01 or Transitional DTD, favicon will appear it self, and if it is XHTML, must be entered tag:
