and uploadit to your root directory
then just point your browser to

http://your.domain/info.php

<?php

phpinfo();

?>

and see there if your host support mod_rewrite

did anyone manage to make a work around for getting and passing the action to post/get/display the certain action?
something like

htaccess file is

RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule home/(.*)-(.*)/?$ index.php?act=main&topic=123 

so

http://localhost/index.php?act=main&topic=123

becomes

http://localhost/home/main-123

and in your snippet, you got this

$action = $_GET["topic"]; 

so basically, you can no longer get or display the value of topic (which is 123)

its easier and just edit it to your likings.
