I will recommend Ubuntu for you,its free and also good....But maybe U can try installing vmware first...

I downloading this version ubuntu-11.04-desktop-i386.iso
Is that ok for windows?
Whenever I download Ubuntu for windows, it makes a window that downloads a big file.
But I can't resume that so I do download this big file rather then the smaller one
