Do you know its managed or unmanaged server ?
Do you know your server hardware eg CPU and Ram and space and uplink port etc and software eg( which Os and software such as control panel )configuration eg what will they provide you ?
Do you know that hosting company has good reviews ? (search on INTERNET about it)
Do you know do they provide technical support ? even its unmanaged ?
do they are really own data center or they are resales ?

You can try site5.com, they offer 30days free.
service is quite good too, softlayer servers.
            Bluehost also a good choice.
