    000webhost takes an attack

tried to log into one of my old accounts today on 000webhost and when i tried to reactivate the "cancelled due to inactivity" account.
    i gets this message.

Server #28 is under the DDOS attack (IP Nullrouted)
We have just received a HUGE (over 3GB/s incoming traffic) DDoS attack targeting the Server #28. Our CISCO guard firewall was unable to handle such attack, so one of the server IP address - 31.170.160.149 was disabled (all the rest websites on this server are working fine).

If your website is using this IP (due to unique IP rotation system only 3% websites are using this IP) it will be unavailable for the next 6 hours. As soon attack will subside, this IP address will be enabled and your website will start working again. We thank you for your patience and understanding.
i cant understand some ppl. why feel the need to try and take down a server.

      the pirate bay
      000webhost

i even read an article earlier that says mobile phone users can now perform DDoS attacks from their mobile phones
for as little as £50. the world is going mad.

ofcourse it can be done from phone...
once botnet is raised and alive...
many phones today, can use protocols like telnet, rdp, etc...
It's better to keep your mouth shut and give the impression that you're stupid, than to open it and remove all doubt.

i know, but its just the thought of putting botnet into the hands of the really unexperienced and them just abusing the fact that is there and taking down some site/company from their mobile phone just cos they

          1: just feel like it.
2: have the money to waste
3: had a tiny disagreement with someone and thought **** you ill take down your site.

or even taking down a site of a coder maybe just cos they couldnt/wouldnt help you.
          give me the chills.

its like saying dont get on the wrong side of someone or dont refuse to help someone or next it could be you.

think about it. a 12 year old finds his daddies credit card, knows about botnet and has just had an arguement with an owner of site, decides screw you its payback time. all you can do then is sit back and wait till the attack is over and hope to god its not as bad as it looks lol.

          its a scary thought.
